SmartLipo® NYC: A Resolution to Reveal Your Bikini Body

Once the ball drops on New Year’s Day, our resolutions to be healthier, more optimistic, successful, and better people for the entire year begin. We all start diet and exercise routines after the New Year, hoping to shed those extra pounds we’ve packed on through the holidays. Results from exercise, however, are not always satisfying. Pesky problem areas like the abdomen, thighs, and love handles don’t always improve the way you’d hoped or envisioned. Frustrated and unmotivated, many people give up on their summer body before the snow even melts. Although some resolutions drop by the wayside around March, Robert A. Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S. offers a more lasting solution to trim those problem areas and gives you a jump start on your resolutions this New Year’s. SmartLipo® in New York is a fabulous way to "spot-treat" problem areas that are not touched by diet and exercise alone, so you can full-fill your New Year’s resolutions this year, and show off your body in time for summer.

Robert A. Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S. performs SmartLipo® in NY in his HCAAA certified office. SmartLipo® uses laser technology to melt away excess and unwanted fat cells while simultaneously tightening the sagging skin cells. Although people of almost any age can undergo SmartLipo® in NYC, the best candidates are people who have realistic expectations of seeking improvement, not perfection, people who are generally in good medical health, and people who still have decent elasticity in their skin. SmartLipo® in NY is not a cure for obesity but rather a way to trim those extra problem areas that diet and exercise can’t seem to touch.

Winter is the perfect time of year to treat yourself to SmartLipo® in NYC. In addition to the obvious benefit of looking fit and bikini-ready in time for summer, the recovery from Smartlipo® in New York City is more convenient and comfortable in the winter months. Wearing the compression garment that facilitates the healing processes is not as bothersome as it can be in the summer months. All the turtlenecks and bulky sweaters and winter coats we layer to combat the chilly winter breeze will mask the swelling and compression garment throughout the healing process after SmartLipo® in NY, so no one will know! When the summer hits, you can shed those extra layers, toss aside your winter coat, and reveal your bikini body without anyone being the wiser.

Keep at least one of your New Year’s resolutions all year long, and consider SmartLipo® at New York Plastic Surgery to help kick-start your bikini body! Robert Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S. and his staff are available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about SmartLipo® in our New York Plastic Surgery office. You can contact us at New York Plastic Surgery at 212.871.0900, or you may request an appointment online for a personal consultation with Dr. Guida.

Endoscopic Nasal Surgery NYC: A Sneeze Away From Chronic Sinusitis

As the days become shorter and colder, the heaters turn on, and we spot our first snowflakes of the year, people gather with holiday cheer to share the joys of the season. Unfortunately, we also tend to share our colds, but how many runny noses, clogged sinuses, and sneezes does it take before we start to question whether it’s just a cold, or something more permanent and debilitating, like chronic sinusitis? At New York Plastic Surgery, Robert A. Guida M.D., F.A.C.S., can take a full medical history, perform an endoscopic exam, and request a CT scan to determine whether your symptoms are indeed just a passing cold or sinusitis in NYC.

Once the proper tests are taken to determine the cause of your sinusitis symptoms, Robert A. Guida M.D., F.A.C.S., can perform endoscopic nasal surgery in New York for patients who are suffering from chronic sinusitis. Surgery is usually deemed necessary depending on how often symptoms occur, how long they last, and how badly they affect the patient’s quality of life. Once a patient relies heavily on antibiotics in order to clear sinusitis symptoms, surgery is strongly encouraged. Diseased tissue which causes sinusitis could vary on an individual basis. Patients may suffer the same symptoms, but one patient may have nasal polyps and the other a deviated septum. Dr. Guida will determine the individual cause of your sinusitis using a CT scan. This will not only display exactly what is causing your sinusitis, but also where it is located. He uses those results of the CT scan as a “road map” to guide him through surgery. General anesthesia is used during endoscopic sinus surgery in NY. Using the nasal endoscope, the obstructive tissue is shaved away from the nose, leaving only healthy tissue intact and untouched. Dr. Guida will also correct any other structural problems that are causing sinusitis symptoms, such as a deviated septum. Patients can also opt to have cosmetic surgery performed on their nose while they are having endoscopic nasal surgery in NYC to improve the appearance of the nose as well as its function.

After receiving endoscopic surgery in NYC, patients should expect sinus congestion for at least two weeks. Although patients cannot blow their nose while it heals, Dr. Guida will clean and clear the nasal passages and spray decongestant into the nose during the post-operative visit one week after surgery to relieve some nasal congestion. Packing the nose is unnecessary after surgery because of the advanced techniques and surgical skills Dr. Guida employs during surgery to minimize bleeding. Patients can still catch colds even after endoscopic surgery in New York, but the vicious cycle of sinusitis symptoms and long overuse of antibiotic treatments will finally end. Robert Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S. and his staff are available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about nasal surgery and chronic sinusitis in our New York Plastic Surgery office. You can contact us at New York Plastic Surgery at 212.871.0900, or you may request an appointment online for a personal consultation with Dr. Guida.

Partial Turbinectomy NYC: To Breathe or Not to Breath is Not Quite the Question

Turbinates are a very important nasal structure. They humidify the air inhaled into your nose as you breathe, and they send signals to the brain that air is passing unobstructedly through the nose. If the turbinates should become swollen, however, they can obstruct air from passing through the nose and cause congestion. Robert Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S.  offers partial tubinectomy in New York City at his in-house AAAHC certified surgical suite for patients whose turbinates have become so swollen as to block the passage of air through the nose. The turbinates may become swollen due to years of chronic sinusitis. They also tend to thicken as a person ages. In either scenario, the swollen turbinates can be partially removed to clear the patient’s nasal cavities and restore the nose to its fullest breathing capabilities.

Robert Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S.   performs partial turbinectomy in NYC and recognizes the importance of the turbinates. The turbinates should never be fully removed because of their special purpose in the nose. Without any turbinates, the patient has no way of relaying a signal to their brain that air is passing through the nose. Although the patient can physically breathe, the brain still senses that the nose is congested. Once completely removed, the turbinates are irreparable; a patient whose turbinates are completely removed will always sense that their nose is congested even when they are in fact breathing. Also, the nose will be constantly dry and crusty as the nose has no way to humidify the air without the turbinates. Dr. Guida performs partial turbinectomy in NY conservatively, so as to preserve the basic functions of the turbinates while still removing enough of the swollen area to allow normal breathing.

General anesthetic is used during partial turbinectomy in New York. Dr. Guida does not pack the nose after surgery, allowing for a quicker, more comfortable recovery. Cosmetic surgery can be done in combination with partial turbinectomy if patients would like to improve the aesthetic look of their nose as well as its function. Patients can expect nasal congestion following surgery for about one to two weeks, and all patients are required to wear a nasal splint during the week following surgery. Patients who opt to include a cosmetic procedure with their partial turbinectomy in NYC should expect swelling and bruising, but those symptoms should recede within one week. Robert Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S. and his staff welcome any questions or concerns you may have about partial turbinectomy in our New York Plastic Surgery office. You can contact us at New York Plastic Surgery at 212.871.0900, or you may request an appointment online for a personal consultation with Dr. Guida.

A broken nose can be debilitating on many levels, both cosmetically and functionally. The nose may swell, develop dark bruises around the eyes, bleed, and hurt even without further physical contact. Those suffering from a broken nose may find it embarrassing to be seen in public because of these physical symptoms, not to mention the functional inhibition of having difficulty breathing. Finding a New York plastic surgeon as quickly as possible is of upmost importance to heal physically and emotionally. Dr. Robert Guida, M.D., F.A.C.S. offers broken nose repair in NYC, so patients can return to their daily routine with renewed confidence in their appearance, no nasal pain, and improved breathing. Performing a precise, gentle, and time efficient surgery is essential in order to minimize bleeding and achieve satisfying results with the least amount of scarring. Minimizing bleeding will not only ensure less scaring but also allow the nose to remain unpacked after surgery. Nasal Reconstruction NYC: Putting the Pieces Together Following an Accident or Injury

No matter how carefully you live your life, sometimes accidents happen. When an accident or trauma causes injury to the nose, specialized treatment is required to maximize reconstruction and minimize the appearance of permanent scars. Board certified in both facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology, Dr. Robert Guida is experienced in treating injuries to the face and nose.

If you’ve been involved in an accident or trauma, the first priority is stabilization of immediate concerns. Once stabilized and all critical needs have been met, the need for facial and nasal reconstruction may become apparent. Nasal reconstruction is often necessary following accidents or trauma in order to repair tissue, bone, and cartilage of the nose and restore facial contours to as close to their original form as possible.

Nasal Reconstruction in NYC can be performed as one procedure or as a series of procedures depending on the nature of the initial injury. In order to ensure the best possible outcome, nasal reconstruction should always be performed by an expert in facial reconstructive surgery. As a highly trained and qualified facial and plastic surgeon, Dr. Guida has the experience necessary to perform successful nasal reconstruction procedures. He also uses the latest techniques available to minimize facial scarring and promote a fast recovery period.

New York Center for Plastic Surgery has an on-site AAAHC certified surgical suite where nasal reconstruction in NY can be performed. Patients are sedated throughout the length of the procedure. During surgery to reconstruct the nose, Dr. Guida works to repair the damaged nasal structures in the least traumatic way possible. Any necessary incisions are carefully placed to minimize visible scarring. Each phase of nasal reconstruction – from the first incision to the removal of sutures – is personally performed by Dr. Guida, so you can be confident that you are in the hands of a skilled surgeon.

For more information about facial reconstruction following an accident or trauma, please call 212-871-0900 or request an appointment online by visiting Dr. Guida’s website.
